How NSA Bullmastiffs Started
I got my first Bullmastiff Rayla in 2019 and I fell in love with her and the Bullmastiff breed. I then decided that I wanted to start breeding Bullmastiffs and started the NSA Bullmastiffs adventure.
My Mission
I'm breeding Bullmastiffs because they are wonderful companions and just downright amazing dogs. My mission is to breed for health, temperament, companionship, and conformation. All of my Bullmastiffs are AKC registered, and the majority of my bullmastiffs are from Grand Champion or Champion bloodlines.
The Bullmastiff Breed
The Bull Mastiff is a breed that originated in England in the mid 1800’s. Approximately 60% Mastiff and 40% Bulldog. They were called the gamekeeper’s night dog. The known history of the Bullmastiff begins around 1860 in England.
Bred to guard against poachers who threatened game land in England; the English Mastiff was not aggressive or fast enough, and the Old English Bulldog was a little too ferocious and small. The breeding of the Mastiff and Bulldog resulted in the Bullmastiff, great for throwing and holding poachers without hurting them.
The Bullmastiff has been in the AKC since 1933. Males are 25-27 inches tall and weighs 110-130 lbs and Females are 24-26 inches tall and weighs 100-120 lbs generally.
